The exhibition, entitled Tam, kde světlo nevrhá stín (Where the Light Casts No Shadow), presents four prominent painters of the contemporary European scene. German artists Till Gerhard and Fritz Bornstück, Polish artist Marek Batorski and Czech painter Jiří Hauschka. The theme of landscape is not approached geographically here, but existentially as a space where reality intertwines with memory, the subconscious and subtle irony. The paintings of all four artists are based on real fragments of the world, but they are transformed into places that feel disturbingly familiar and at the same time completely personal.

The landscapes are neither beautiful nor tragic, but rather unremarkable. The bird left behind a wing, but no message. The clue is there, but the meaning is fading. Gerhard’s hallucinatory colour field, Bornstück’s mysterious fragments, Batorski’s darkly imaginative layers of painting and Hauschka’s meditative world between dream and waking create a dialogue about what remains when everything essential has disappeared. The exhibition is an invitation to a space where light falls differently. Maybe without shadow, but not without meaning.
